Well-Being of Retirees in Abu Dhabi—A Discriminant Analysis of the Happy and the Not-So-Happy Groups

We examined a wide range of well-being determinants retirees in Abu Dhabi using data from the second cycle Quality-of-Life Survey. The survey included scales happiness, life satisfaction, social relations, subjective physical and mental health, housing, income, education, environment, community support services. A total 1036 retired persons responded to survey. were classified into two groups: happy not-so-happy, sample mean as breaking point reflect more representation. Discriminant analysis was used examine 20 predictors. Results produced highly acceptable measurements statistics. identified 12 significant predictors, including services for vulnerable groups, trust public services, self-rated satisfaction with environmental surroundings, feeling safety security, investment, education health support. model canonical correlation 0.792 Wilks’ Lambda (0.001) could accurately predict 92.71% retiree group 91.25% not-so-happy group. final Canonical Function easy calculations predictions.
